Consultations are necessary prior to receiving LASIK eye surgery because your eye doctor needs to ensure that you are a good candidate for the procedure.
Basic Breakdown
To book your consultation at our Boca Raton, FL office, please contact us directly. During your LASIK consultation at the Mitchell Eye Center, your eye doctor, Dr. Alan Mitchell, will perform a few preliminary tests to certify that LASIK eye surgery is right for you. The entire LASIK consultation will generally take a little over an hour. Afterwards, your eye doctor will discuss the results of your tests, which will determine if you are a suitable candidate for LASIK.
LASIK Consultation Tests
For the first test, your LASIK coordinator will perform a wave scan to measure how your eyes process images. These measurements will help your eye doctor reshape your cornea during LASIK surgery.
After the wave scan we will use a Pentacam. This revolutionary camera is a highly specialized, rotating tool that will take precise, 3D images of your cornea. These 3D images give your eye doctor a detailed look at your cornea, which will be used to help determine if your eyes are healthy enough for LASIK surgery.
Once we have completed these two tests, your LASIK coordinator will explain in further detail what you should expect before and after LASIK surgery as well what to expect during the actual operation. After the explanation, your LASIK coordinator can answer any other questions you may have about LASIK eye surgery.
